Simple Tips to Loving Green Tea

Hearing the word green tea should not be foreign to you. For all over the world, people seem to embrace this health giving drink. It is all many people talk about. How it is a wonderful drink and how especially you can take advantage of it in terms of the many benefits it can offer. In here I have gathered information and tips as to how one can be a tea aficionado yourself from the green tea experts and enthusiasts themselves. Here are some of them.

What it looks like:

As the name speaks for itself. It is green. It can also be greenish to yellowish, depending on the type or brand. But basically, expect the bag of the green tea as green. Since green tea comes from the leaves of the tea plant, Camillia sinensis. As for the tea itself, it looks like regular teas. But expect its color to be lighter in color.

ON-TOPIC: Sencha tea may help in the prevention of stroke... and Tava Tea contains Sencha... :-)

What it should taste like:

Just remember that different types of green teas taste differently. And that different brands will also spell the difference in the taste. You probably think that since it has the word green in its name, it would probably taste "greeny" or "grassy" or something vegetable like. Well, the answer is not so simple. A yes and a no. The same principle applies in having and tasting different kinds of chocolates. It can taste grassy, nutty, or earthy. It can be dark, sweet or a little bit bitter. Some describe it as having a light and subtle taste than a regular tea can offer. It can vary. The only and best way for you to find out for sure is to actually try it.

What it should not taste like:

Bad or as otherwise not like described above. I guess if this were the case, it is probably because of the temperature you had used in making the tea. Because the temperature will affect as to how your green tea will taste.

The number of times I should drink green tea:

There is no limit actually. But you should keep in mind to drink it regularly so as to enjoy the full health benefits it can offer. According to studies, an average of 3 to 6 times a day should be enough.

Your best bet: The regular, unflavored green tea.

A very good green tea is one with the most flavorful and health benefits. It does not need to be flavored or sweetened to be enjoyed and consumed. It should contain the most catechins, as well as the other essential compounds, vitamins and minerals such as: caffeine, tannins. These ingredients, combined together make a very powerful drink which offers health benefits that are not only good for health, but for the person's well-being as well. Some of them are: anti-aging, wrinkle prevention and fat burner. Additionally, it helps you lose weight, prevents cardiovascular ailments, blood clots, cancer and also improves your immunity. It is also stress-relieving and anxiety reducer.. It also helps lower down high blood and diabetes. It can even improve brain function and memory booster. And so on and so forth

If still, unflavored, unsweetened still does not appeal to your taste, here are tips on how to make tea taste better.

1. Do not use boiling water in making your green tea. If boiling water is used in making the tea, then chances are it will taste more bitter than it should be. This is because the astringency of the green tea will overpower the taste so if you do not want this, avoid boiling waters. The key here is to wait for 5 minutes or so after you have boiled the water in the kettle. Or else do not let the water reach its boiling point.

2. Drink it naturally. Enjoy sip each slowly. Savor it. Its aroma. Its naturalness. But if you like it sweet and want to add flavor, then use natural sweeteners such as honey or lemon. It will taste better than using sugar instead. Because using natural sweeteners can also add some health benefits as well. Unlike sugar, which will probably do the exact opposite.

3. Experiment. Find the perfect flavor and blend for you. Add a touch of cream or milk, if you want your green tea creamy. Just a tip: Avoid creamers that contain artificial sugars. The same principle applies here as mentioned above.

4. Drink it anyway you want. Drink it cold, if you want to. Alternate. If its very warm outside, like in the summer and your taste buds crave for cold instead of hot, then try it. There are ways to do it. Either purchase it at the nearest store (preferably unsweetened) or make your own brew by making large amounts and placing it in the fridge. Just drink it not more than 10 days.

5. Be creative. Mix and match. There are other things you can add to your green tea that will add a unique flavor to it. It just takes patience, and creativity for you to arrive at the perfect blend for you. For instance, try honeysuckle. It can not only make it taste better but it also is loaded with health benefits. Or try adding chamomile for a change. It will lighten the flavor and can also counteract the caffeine in green teas. Making it a balancer. Or else try adding mint. Giving it a bit of spice and freshness if you do not exactly like the greeny, earthy taste of green tea. There is no harm in trying.

The bottom line: There is no one sure way of enjoying green tea. It is a matter of preference of a certain individual. The key to enjoying and loving green tea is to go ahead and try it for yourself. There is no limit as to what green tea should be like. Mix and match. Because at the end of the day, it is you yourself that will determine which is the right flavor and taste for you. In this way, you can really say that you are loving drinking green tea and will also enjoy the full health benefits it can offer to you.
